KEVIN Federline insists his breakup from Britney Spears caused him to gain weight.

The former backup dancer says the stress of being associated with the Toxic hitmaker made him pile on the pounds and led to his subsequent appearance on VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club.

“Me and Brit are good now. Everybody knows I’ve had a tough road but I am happy where we are at now. Everything we went through played a part in my weight gain,” he said.

“You go through certain situations in your life and some people get depressed and eat more — and I was one of those people. Some people get stressed and they lose weight. With me that wasn’t the case.

“I went through a lot of things and I would definitely say that those things contributed to me gaining weight — that is for sure.”

Federline, 31, recently revealed he decided to lose weight after growing tired of people calling him ‘K- Fat’.

“I looked pregnant,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

“It was upsetting. It’s [usually] easy for me to brush stuff off of my shoulder. [But] when I see a pictures [of me] like that, and people are calling me ‘K- Fat,’ I had to do something about it.”
