BEACH BOYS star BRIAN WILSON has mixed emotions about his drug-using past marijuana helped him create musical masterpieces but left him constantly paranoid.
The Good Vibrations hitmaker wrote pop classics while stoned, but his experimentation with pot and hallucinogenics had a terrible downside. He tells Britain’s Uncut magazine, "If you experiment (with drugs), eventually something good can come out. But I’m not sure that drugs were good for me. "Marijuana made me very paranoid about living up to my reputation. But it also helped me concentrate on my music. It gave me insight into writing songs that I didn’t have before. So it wasn’t all bad." But LSD really left him scarred: "(It) gave me a case of the scareds. I mostly got over it. But, when you take a drug like LSD, you’re never going to be the same again." Drugs for someone who has a mental illness is bad. I have an Aunt who is a muckety muck big time at a top 25 college and when she was a student there one of the experiments was with LSD this was back in the late 50's early 60's. Anyway, she said it was a very odd experience and you have to wonder especially because she is brilliant anyway, what kind of door it opened further in her brain, she said it's a door that never totally closes again. So I find it interesting that someone else has expressed it that way to. She has never had the issues that B Wilson has had either.
