Jessica Simpson sparkled in sequins last night as she supported her sister as she made her Broadway debut in Chicago.

But as the Texas singer, actress and reality star turned up at the theatre, there was was barely any way to tell she was related to Ashlee Simpson-Wentz.

While dark-haired Ashlee took to the stage looking waif-like and pale, her elder sibling appeared to be the image of the all-American gal - curvy, blonde and very tanned.





Ashlee, 25, who is married to Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, was performing in New York's Ambassador Theatre as wannabe Jazz singer Roxie Hart.

The singer and actress has previously performed the role in London's West End in 2006 and will perform up to eight shows a week for ten weeks.

Meanwhile, Dukes Of Hazzard actress Jessica, 29, turned up for support in a clinging sequinned dress which showed off her curves with diamond earrings and black and silver heels.




Before the performance she wrote on Twitter: 'I've looked forward to this moment since I watched her own the stage in London.'

And afterwards, she tweeted about the show, saying: 'Roxie was all Heart! Watching her up on that grandiose stage made me the proudest sister in the world. I love ya honey, I love ya!. Grrrrrrr'

Ashlee's husband was also in attendance, while their one-year-old son Bronx was tucked up in bed.



The Melrose Place actress said: 'I'm honored to be reprising my role as Roxie Hart, returning to the stage and joining this amazing cast. Being on Broadway is a childhood dream come true.'

Pop and country singer Jessica, who has been criticised for her weight in the past, is currently working on a project with VH1 titled The Price Of Beauty.

It follows her meeting everyday women around the world and listening to their dietary fads, fashions and quest for beauty.
