 Musical worlds are colliding, if reports that Jessica Simpson is dating the Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan are to be believed. "She has fallen hard and is smitten," a source tells E! News, which reports that the 29-year-old romantically unlucky singer and Corgan, 42, are "officially dating." When reached by PEOPLE, a rep for Simpson would only say she doesn’t comment on her client's personal life. Of course, the two – photographed together in New York Friday – may simply be working on one of music's most mismatched duets, but until it hits the airwaves, this is one potential relationship we're keeping our eyes on. Jessica Simpson and Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan have started dating – and are taking things slow, says a source close to the pop star. "They are getting to know each other," says the source. "He's a nice guy." On Friday, Simpson, 29, and Corgan, 42, were spotted together in New York City. She was in town earlier in the week for sister Ashlee Simpson Wentz's Broadway debut in the musical Chicago. Corgan's spirituality may just be what appeals to Simpson. The Smashing Pumpkins frontman is believed to have grown uncomfortable with the amount of attention their romance has attracted since reports first linked the pair last month. However, Corgan reportedly insisted that the couple remain on good terms and that he still intends to assist the singer with her forthcoming album. An insider told the New York Daily News: "Dating Jessica publicly can be intense. Billy maintains a quiet, private music-focused life and the taste of publicity he got while being with Jessica was an eye-opener. "Billy likes Jessica, but he will work to keep their relationship as it is and focus on the music. They are not getting serious, but Jessica has had so much fun with him."
