Mariah Carey insists she can't help but to always be running late.

The pop singer, who has previously kept her fans waiting at concerts and record signings, claims she tries to be punctual however can't quite manage to do so.

She said; "I always run at least half an hour late. I am such a bad timekeeper. I don't know how I always manage to do it but I do. I try my best but it doesn't bother me that I can't keep time."

While, Mariah isn't concerned with her constant lateness, she does admit her husband Nick Cannon, who she married earlier this year, is finding it difficult to deal with.

She told gossip website Absolute Now; "Nick has been trying to keep me in check."

Meanwhile, Mariah revealed she is looking forward to starting a family with Nick because she believes he will make a great father.

She told Elle magazine that Nick is definitely the right man for her to have a baby with adding; "I couldn't imagine anybody that I've ever met being a better dad."

However Mariah does admit when she gets pregnant she will put her career on hold and step away from the spotlight for her children.

She said; "You can get caught up in Hollywood-land or celebrity-land, and that's maybe not the best thing for kids, 'cause they didn't ask for it," she says.

I really feel like it's very important to be responsible and to think, 'Well, maybe if I do this it's not the best thing for my child.

You have to take a backseat a little bit, and as someone in the public eye, you're not used to doing that."
