Shia LaBeouf has opened up about his recent car accident insisting it was "eye opening and terrifying."

The young actor, who recently suffered head and knee injuries and was required to undergo "extensive surgery" to his hand after the crash late this past summer, revealed he is still trying to get over the incident, which has changed his view on driving.

He said; "The crash was eye opening and terrifying. The car hit me at 70mph. It was one of the biggest things that's happened to me, for sure, in my life. I'm just grateful to be here."

Meanwhile, the 'Eagle-Eye' star, whose injury has been written into the script for his blockbuster movie 'Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen', also revealed he will have to have more surgeries on his hand.

He said; "I'm working right now. We propped my hand together so I could get through 'Transformers' and then I'll go have another surgery and be back to 100 per cent."

Shia also went on to claim very little of the production was affected by his injury thanks to the movie's director Michael Bay.

He added, "Michael ploughs through. I think we had a day down, two days down, and then we got back to some second unit stuff that we had to get anyways, and I was back two or three weeks before anybody projected me coming back."

In other news, Shia recently confessed he has a crush on newscaster Diane Sawyer despite the fact that she is 40 years his senior.

LaBeouf, 22, admits he had always lusted after the Good Morning America host.

When he was asked by Maxim magazine of his number one woman, the handsome star replied, "Diane Sawyer, she just does it for me."
